Disclaimer: I'm too sentimental to delete this little time capsule I created back in 2009 with an obsolete HTML textbook. When the current domain became available (this site was originally hosted at jameskbrown.com), I had to jump on it to preserve history and rebuild my online portfolio (aforementioned URL) and new freelance identity brownandblue.design. Continue reading to learn a little more about my history. Born and raised in Soldotna, Alaska up to my sophomore year of high school and then moved to Winterhaven, California and graduated from San Pasqual Valley High School on the Quechan Indian Reservation. I earned the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication at Collins College in Tempe, Arizona. Returned home to Alaska and accepted a full-time job at the Peninsula Clarion; then accepted part-time employment at the UPS Store in Soldotna. Maintained simultaneous full and part time employment for about six years until it became necessary to focus on a single career with the Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council as communications manager. A move to Anchorage garnered new opportunities such as employment at Buzzbizz Creative as graphic design lead from 2012-2017; during which time this site remained untouched to avoid any possible conflict of interest. Specializing in design and illustration using traditional technique and industry-current software -versed in both Mac and PC- and extensive knowledge of 4-color process printing. Contemporary style with a classic approach. |
